Domaine de la Pepiere | Melon de Bourgone | "Clos des Briords" Muscadet Sevre et Maine, Loire Valley, FR | 2019

The Briords Lieu-Dit are the oldest vines on the Pepiere estate having been planted between 1930-1950 in the granitic soils that the domaine is known for. After hand harvest,Ā the fruit was direct-pressed and the juice settled naturally for 12 hours. It was then fermented in stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts; the wine is aged on its lees in large, underground vats--8 to 9 months in the case of Briords--until bottling without fining or filtering. Briords is generally the most structured and powerful of PepiĆØre's wines.Ā
