🤓 Geek Out: Diego Roig and Shaunt Oungoulian have been making natural wine in their parents basement in Northern California for nearly a decade under the labels of Les Lunes and Populis. Populis is their negociant label for which they purchase grapes from historic vineyards farmed by multi-generation growers . The wines are fresh, playful, and alive. That “new” California throwback style we love! They’re fun. They’re flirty. They’re quaffable. Drink 'em now. Les Lunes is where the duo showcases their cuvees that are more classic, refined, graceful, and ageworthy. Drink 'em now, but don't be afraid to lay them down in the cellar. They’re impressive. They’re cerebral. They’re classy.
The negociant fruit for Populis comes from very reputable organic growers in Mendocino’s cool climate. Diego and Shaunt work with multi-generation farmers who manage historic vineyards with old vines! For Les Lunes, the duo leases and farms 20+ acres of organic vines in Napa and Sonoma where they are committed to restoring and preserving California’s old vineyards. The duo will be the first to tell you that they do not spend much time in the cellar because they allocate most of their daylight hours to the important stuff, farming.
