🌱 Organic Farming
🤓 This Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Herron Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain. It was originally planted in 1969 by an Oaxacan avocado farmer, Rudy Rodriguez. Rodriguez sold the vineyard to the Benziger family in the 70’s, and eventually, in 1989, Phyllis Herron purchased the property. Today the property has come full circle, as Marty and Alex farm the land alongside Rudy’s nephew, Servando.
The juice was fermented in neutral barrels, remained on its lees throughout fermentation, and was bottled with minimal sulfur additions.
Marty Winters and Alex Pitts met while cooking at Cyrus in Healdsburg, and after realizing they both had a love for wine, they took their creative talents to the cellar. In 2012, they founded Maitre de Chai (May-TRUH de Shay), an urban winery in Berkley, CA. They source their fruit from superb vineyards that surround the Bay Area.
